Introduction
Here are some typewriters I own or formerly owned. I began “collecting” some years ago, looking for a machine I could use. The first few I purchased, generally at flea markets, were duds. I kept those in my basement, though one was displayed in my classroom for several years (my students mostly “mashed” upon the keys). Later, I began taking an interest in the history of typewriters, and then I became a collector.
I sometimes sell, or swap, a typewriter. In such cases, that machine remains in the digital collection, if only for the sake of keeping a record of the ones that passed through my hands. To contact me, e-mail at netadams @ gmail.
As for the listings below, each machine is categorized loosely by its manufacturer, including rebranded typewriters, e.g. the Bradford portable falls under the Brother heading. I do not, however, make distinctions between a machine manufactured by the Remington Typewriter Company or Remington Rand, etc.
