QWERTY gets six seconds of glory in new Apple commercial

The song is “Run” by Tiggs Da Author featuring Lady Leshurr. Catchy. The first six seconds of the commercial feature a string of typewriters. Can you name them?

Also, goodbye QWERTY? According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is working on a new keyboard:

Although the Apple keyboard would be a standard feature, it is likely to hold added appeal to those who frequently type in more than one language, including people in international business and students. People who use software with specialized commands, such as graphic designers and gamers, are also expected to welcome the versatility of the device.

For everyday users, the new keyboard would also make it easy for people to spice up their communications with emojis and other symbolic substitutes for words, which have gained widespread popularity through the spread of smartphones and social networking apps.

I think its not a new keyboard at all….It is only the new Mac touchbar about which all the hoopla is being made…Somewhat old news now!

True, but the keyboard may well be moving in a radically different direction.

    Love the commercial.

I am not sure I understand the “goodbye QWERTY” story. I think the concept is that the keys will be little screens that will light up with whatever symbols you like, making it easy to swap keyboard layouts. But you know which layout 99% of people typing in a Roman alphabet will choose? QWERTY. (Counting its local variants such as QWERTZ and AZERTY.)

    Yeh… Lovely!
A log way from robust Underwood 4 to the fancy MBP latest edition…. Recognised several Apples which ages ago were at my side – PowerBooks 180 (funny – still working…) and G4 (unfortunately doesn’t…). But now looks tablets will take the flag over laptops, don’t you think? So you can load whatever keyboard you like.
As for the typewriters featuring in that ad – I guess:
    1. Underwood Standard No 5
    2. Royal 10 (with name covered)
    3. IBM Modell C
    4. Brother Charger 11 (but probably I’m wrong… keyboard looks similar, but shape of the cover is not)
    5. Smith Corona Coroner Super 12
