
I know painfully little about Simplex typewriters, except that they are fun machines. Produced over a period of decades, these are found in a bewildering array of sizes and styles. My modest collection includes but two. Robert Messenger at oz.Typewriter owns many more and writes this interesting piece here. (I believe I’ve cited that blog entry previously.)

My Simplex 2, with a final patent date of 1902, rests on a wood board. A re-inking tube is fused to the base.
